YOTEXT

Guide

From your first meeting
to tasks delivered.

Six steps to use YOTEXT in Google Meet. Set it up once, and every next meeting takes a single shortcut.

Guide steps

  1. 01

    Install extension

    • Open the Chrome Web Store on your computer and click Add to Chrome. Edge can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store too.
    • Click the puzzle icon in the top right corner of the browser and pin YOTEXT so its icon is always visible.
    See the full installation guide
  2. 02

    Sign in to YOTEXT

    • Click the YOTEXT icon to open the panel on the right side of the browser, then choose Sign in with Google.
    • Use the same Google account you use on yotext.app. The first time you sign in, accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
  3. 03

    Start recording in Google Meet

    • Open Google Meet in your computer browser and join the meeting.
    • Start recording in any of these ways: press Ctrl+Shift+U (Cmd+Shift+U on Mac), right click on the Meet page and choose Start YOTEXT recording in this tab, or open the YOTEXT panel and press Start recording.
    • If Chrome shows a tab picker, choose the meeting tab and make sure tab audio sharing is turned on.
    • Let participants know the meeting is being recorded. The Copy the notice message button in the panel prepares a message you can paste into the meeting chat.
  4. 04

    During the meeting

    • The live transcript appears in the panel, with speaker names from Meet.
    • Press Pause for parts that should not be captured, then Resume to continue.
    • Choose the meeting language in the panel: automatic, Indonesian, English, or Mandarin.
    • Press Share live transcript if a teammate who is not in the meeting needs to follow along from a link.
  5. 05

    After the meeting

    • Press Finish in the panel. Recording also stops on its own when you leave the meeting or close the Meet tab.
    • YOTEXT turns the meeting audio into a more accurate transcript, a summary, decisions, and tasks per person. It usually takes just a few minutes.
    • Open yotext.app and pick the meeting under Meetings. You can also ask anything about it in Ask about this meeting.
  6. 06

    Share and follow up

    • Share the meeting results by link so the whole team reads the same summary.
    • Tasks from the meeting go to Tasks. Check off finished tasks so everyone sees the progress.

Common questions

Still stuck? Email support@yotext.app and we will help you directly.

Invitation email not arriving?+

Check your Spam or Promotions folder. If it is there, mark it as Not spam so future YOTEXT emails land in your inbox.

Cannot see the YOTEXT icon?+

Click the puzzle icon in the browser toolbar, then click the pin icon next to YOTEXT.

Ctrl+Shift+U shortcut not working?+

Another extension may already use that shortcut. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to change it, or right click on the Meet page instead.

Recording empty or silent?+

Usually tab audio sharing was off when the tab was picked. Stop the session, start again, and make sure the meeting tab is selected with its audio shared.

Can I use it on my phone?+

You can open meeting results on your phone at yotext.app. To record, use Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Have an existing audio recording?+

Upload it from the app home page. Supported formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, and FLAC.

Meeting on Zoom or Microsoft Teams?+

The YOTEXT extension can also record Zoom and Microsoft Teams opened in the browser. It works the same way, starting from that meeting tab.

Ready for your next meeting?

Install the extension, sign in once, and let YOTEXT take the notes.
